Adding Layers Back To Welcome Page
The Add Layer(s) tool allows you to search through the metadata of dataset layers held in the GeoHub and to add any of these layers to your map providing you have permission to access.
- Click on the Add Layer(s) button on the toolbar to open the Add Layer(s) dialogue window.
- Type a search keyword into the Keyword(s) field.
- You can choose to search for layers whose occur within the whole of Northern Ireland or you can limit your searchto find only those layers whose extents occur at the current extent of the map canvas. This is done by choosing the appropriate button i.e. either Search All NI or Search by Map Extents.
- Click on the Search Metadata button to execute the search

- Any metadata that contains the keyword(s) will be returned in the Metadata Results field. If too many results are found you will be asked to refine your search by choosing a more specific keyword.
- By clicking on the link below the title you can access the full metadata record for the layer, which will appear in a new window.
- Any layers you have permission to access (i.e. you can add them to the map) will have a check box beside them. If you do not have access to the layer, there will be no check box beside the metadata search result (therefore you cannot add it to the map).
- To add a layer, select it by clicking in the check box beside it. Click on the Add Layer(s) to TOC button

- You can add more than one layer at a time if desired by selecting multiple layers in the metadata results before clicking the Add Layer(s) to TOC button.
- A message will appear with information about how many layers you have already added to the map. Click OK to add the layer or Cancel to cancel the addition.
- If you choose OK, the selected layer is now added to the Table of Contents (TOC) and to the map canvas.

- Remove Layer To remove any layer from the map, you must right-click on it in the table of contents (TOC). This will open a context menu from which you can choose Remove Layer. The layer is then removed from the table of contents and from the map canvas.
