Doing Business with OSNI

The Customer Perspective of the Strategy Map is crucial to our plans and recognises that we need our customers to value what we do and to continue to do business with us. This will help ensure financial sustainability, which in turn will enable us to continue to contribute to the public good. There are a number of key customer success factors, which contribute to customer satisfaction.

OSNI will pursue our goal to achieve financial self- sustainability by introducing further production efficiencies, continuing strict cost management, improving asset utilization and sustaining existing revenue streams. We plan to increase our revenues through the development of new business opportunities and channels to market, whilst improving the currency and quality of our core map databases.

To reduce its overall running costs, OSNI has, over several years, actively pursued a programme of implementing new technology and production methods into the data collection, map-making and supply processes. This has made OSNI a technically advanced mapping operation.

The widespread use of new mapping and data manipulation technologies has also produced ‘explosive’ worldwide growth in the geographic information industry. We have helped fuel this growth in Northern Ireland by producing mapping in an appropriate digital format and making it available to both the public and private sectors.

Our Vision clearly links this maximisation of our commercial potential to reduced taxpayer cost and the enhancement of our public good role, through such means as the promotion of the Geographic Information Strategy (MOSAIC) and the creation of a Northern Ireland Mapping Agreement (NIMA).

Once the organisation has become self-sustainable and has moved to a new operating model, which allows for the retention of earned income over and above that necessary to run core agency activities, we will be able to:

· Increase our level of investment in a range of strategic Geographic Information projects;

· Reinvest in our technical infrastructure; and

· Lower our Prices.
