The
main focus of the Business Development Division in 2005-06 will be on improving quality, function/choice,
service and relationship, key items in the Customer Perspective of the Strategy Map and Balanced Scorecard. A key business component addressing these is the new Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland Website (www.osni.gov.uk).
In
addition to the development and implementation of the technical infrastructure to enable the new website,
significant changes will be implemented in order to make the interaction between OSNI and its customers
more efficient and effective. This will include incorporating click-licensing, digital water-marking,
online licence tracking and renewal, and the production of technical and product support literature
and product packaging.
In addition, OSNI will continue
to focus on our major clients; developing our understanding of their specific needs with regard to OSNI
data, ensuring the appropriate level of contact and educating and supporting prospective key users. OSNI is accredited under the Information Fair Trader Scheme (IFTS) and will seek to maintain this accreditation
as well as complying with the requirements of the legislation expected to be enacted following the EU
Public Sector Information (PSI) Directive. The development of partnerships, including Value-Added Resellers,
Distributors and Agents is an integral part of OSNI’s strategy for continued business growth.
Business
Development Division also includes Mosaic. Mosaic supports the development and implementation of the
GeoHub technical infrastructure, which will provide a Geographic Information shared services platform.
The Mosaic team has responsibility for OSNI's web mapping and e-commerce systems.
